Read Psalm 103:1-8
- What does this Psalm say about God?
- The Lord provides for us, saves us, is compassionate and gracious toward us
- He is forgiving, he knows us and spreads his compassion to our children’s children
- He is established in heaven and knows how frail we are but chooses to have compassion on us
Read Romans 3:9-18
- This refers to the state of humanity without God
- No one is righteous, no one understands God
- No one seeks God, we are full of bitterness
- Full of cursing, lying, killing
- No peace, lost and needed saving
- Yet God initiates a plan to save us and reconcile us to himself through Jesus
Read Romans 5:6-11
- At just the right time, Jesus came and died for us while we were still ungodly, powerless and sinful
- It was a demonstration of God’s love for us when he sent Jesus to pay for our sins with his own blood
- God saved us in the midst of our sinfulness. He initiated the reconciliation to make things right in our relationship with Him
- Now we can be motivated to do what is right in our relationship with God and with each other
- We should continue to rejoice today that we are still being made whole when we fall short and can repent and be close to God and to each other
